If you want to keep some content concealed from the public eye, you could switch on password protection for a particular folder - either the main Internet site folder or any other one below it. If this feature is activated, a pop-up shall appear anytime anyone tries to open the folder in question or clicks on a direct link that goes a few levels deeper, so login information will be required for www.domain.com/folder/image.jpg if you have protected only the domain.com folder. In case the details are not valid, a “403 Forbidden” message shall appear and there is no way of getting around this restriction, so you can be certain that no one shall be able access the secured content. The function can be useful in a variety of situations - if only some individuals should be able to see specific files, if you work on a site and you do not want people to see it before it is completed, etc.

Password Protected Directories in Cloud Hosting

Setting up a password-protected area will take just several mouse clicks and a few seconds if you host your sites within a cloud hosting account with our company. You will not have to do anything difficult - you will have to select a domain/subdomain, to select which folder under it has to be protected, and then to type in the login name and password that will be used to access that folder. When a number of people require their own login details, there shall not be a problem to set up a variety of different usernames with access to the same exact folder. All secured folders will appear with a padlock icon within the File Manager section, so you will always know where this function is enabled. If you want to disable the security function for any folder, you can disable it from the same exact section of the CP where you have enabled it.

Password Protected Directories in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, you'll be able to secure any content you have uploaded by using our protection tool. Its interface is as basic and intuitive as that of the Hepsia CP it's a part of, so you shall not need to write any code at any time. You'll only have to pick one of the domains/subdomains you have inside the web hosting account and to choose which folder has to be password-protected - the website’s root folder or some folder below it. Then you can type in the username and the password, that'll be stored in encrypted form in our system, and you'll be ready. The protection shall be enabled immediately, so anyone who attempts to access the recently secured folder shall have to input the accurate login details. In case a number of individuals have to be able to access exactly the same content, you could make a separate username for each of them.
